eff this game.

This umpire (Scott Barry) is completely out of pocket. Not only did Howard get called out on a check swing in the 14th with 2 men on, but this douchebag tossed him (and Ross Gload!!! He’s on the DL!!!!) with no position players left in the Phillies dugout. So, this happened:

Roy Oswalt admirably came to the rescue to play left field and actually looked pretty good. He made the first out on a fly ball after entering the game. Problem was though, he also had to bat… He ended the game on a strike out in the 16th inning. Astros won 4-2. Bottom line: both teams sucked. Not shocking to learn that Barry was a minor league replacement. Amateur asshole trying to make a name for himself.

The Fightins lost to the lowly Nats 8-1 on Friday night, and Roy Oswalt’s first performance as a Phillie was, well, effing bad.

It seems as if Roy agrees…

roy oswalt waives no trade clause, dealt to phillies

Yodo | Comments (2) | Phillies | July 29, 2010 3:06 pm

For the fourth July in a row, the Phillies have traded for a starting pitcher at the non-waiver trade deadline. In 2007 it was Kyle Lohse, in 2008 it was Joe Blanton, in 2009 it was Cliff Lee and now in 2010 it is Roy Oswalt. The Phillies acquired Houston’s ace for a package that includes J.A. Happ and prospects Anthony Gose (CF) and Jonathan Villar (SS). Houston is also picking up $11M of the remaining $24M guaranteed on Oswalt’s deal (~$5M this year, $16M in 2011 and $3M buyout of 2012, or $16M if the Phillies pick up his option). More after the jump. (more…)

phillies fans wait as trade deadline approaches

Yodo | Comments (6) | Phillies | July 21, 2010 3:42 pm

The Jayson Werth hate has come full circle and now everyone on the internet claims he will be traded before the weekend. The current hot rumor is a three team trade that would send Werth to Tampa Bay, Roy Oswalt to Philadelphia and prospects every which way. It’s unknown whether or not the Phillies would have to contribute some B quality prospects to the mix or whether Houston will pay part of Oswalt’s remaining salary. The Phillies have also been rumored to be looking at Dan Haren (probably a pipe dream) and Ben Sheets. With Moyer possibly done for the season and everyone finally realizing that Happ and Kendrick are terrible, adding a starter is an obvious move at this point but at what cost? More discussion after the jump… (more…)
